• Diabetes is a chronic metabolic disease which occurs your blood glucose level are too high.
  • Blood glucose is the main source of energy and come from food we eat.
  • Diabetes occurs when the pancreas doesn’t produce enough insulin or when the body can’t effectively use insulin if produces, this lead to an increased concentration of glucose in the blood (hyperglycemia).
  • Insulin helps the glucose enters the cells.

Types of diabetes

  1. Type 1 Diabetes:-
  2. Type 1 diabetes known as juvenile onset diabetes.
  3. Suddenly onset
  4. It happens when our body attack pancreas with antibodies and the organ is damaged doesn’t make insulin.
  5. Beta cell are destroyed eliminating the production of insulin.
  6. Type 2 diabetes:-
  7. Inability of beta cell to produce appropriate quantities of insulin, insulin resistance other defects.
  8. It is often milder than type 1 when people have type 2 diabetes their pancreas usually create some insulin.
  9. About 90% of people with diabetes have type 2.
  10. Gestational diabetes:-
  11. Occurs in pregnancy period and is caused by pregnancy hormone.
  12. Insulin is not working effectively.
  13. Usually goes away when the baby is born.
  14. Increase the risk of type 2 diabetes for the mother later in life.
  15. Mothers are advised to see the doctor yearly for diabetes test.
